First of all, I would like to thank everyone for the amazing support for the last couple of months. Many things have gone amazingly well and the guide has helped thousands upon thousands of players of all games. I sincerely appreciate it. ❤
The bigger the community grows, the more questions I get about translating the guide. So, to help answer all these questions, I have created this post to help potential volunteers who want to help translate the “From Silver to Eagle: Improving Your Game” guide.
There are NO requirements to help translate this guide.
No deadlines. – I believe that deadlines create stress. Stress causes to lose focus. Losing focus causes mistakes. I made it my best to make the guide as professional as possible, and I expect the translations to reflect this. You can take your time and I will never push you to finish the translation. You are the one that volunteered and it would be extremely rude for me to treat it as a job or something that you are forced to do. I have translated and written the guide and I can say that it was way better to finish without a deadline on your shoulders. Besides, volunteers have a life too haha.
You get credit. – I am a firm believer that volunteering is a wonderful thing and will give you all the credit for the translation. You will gain a spot in the list of translators in the Silver to Eagle Page. You will also be credited in the publishing of the guide with a CONTRIBUTOR status, right next to me on the published page. 😀
Beautiful friendship – This is not really a perk to me, but you will get a spot on my friends list. You will also be located on the friend group for my Translation Team. We play games, get to chat anytime, etc. Do…well…friend stuff haha. A friend that I will cherish and treat with the utmost respect for helping with a good cause. Basically, “U B MY FREND <3”.
Help – This guide is not necessarily you working alone, I will be there for you the entire way. If you need help with a word, just message me. Message me anytime and anywhere and I will be more than happy to help you find an alternative or help you find out what the correct word is. The guide includes some region-specific slang like “clutch” that might translate to another word that means the same. Either way, don’t hesitate to ask me anything and I will always help you out.
Some few things
All previous things sound pretty good huh? Well those are the ones I can think of, I am sure there are more personal benefits, but there are a few things I do ask for in return.
Professionalism – I expect professionalism. I worked for 2 years experimenting, designing, testing, grinding, and playing to get the guide to be the ultimate guide with various psychological under-meanings and products to help people improve and have fun with a game they love. I love the guide, and the readers also. This guide has a reputation and I want its translations to reflect the same professionalism and meaning that other readers, from other translations and original guide, receive. Simple as that. 🙂
Questions – I believe that questions are the most important way to communicate to the readers and help them achieve results. Occasionally, I will ask for the translators if they can help me with a new comment and send them to the translators. Most messages are those that are asking a question (and require an answer), or something that Google Translate cannot help me translate and need your help understanding. Again, this is not forced and you can take your time to answer back. It’s also not as often as you might think. Most of the comments are thankful ones that require no answer or a short “You’re welcome :D” which I can research to find out how to write it and reply with. You don’t have to worry about posting, you can just translate, and I will reply to the comment with the correct translation using my account (this is actually my preferred method for replies).
Language Proficiency – This goes with professionalism. The guide includes some words that are a bit advanced, so proficiency in the language you are translating would be appreciated. Nothing too advanced, this is a guide for gamers, not language students haha.
Finishing – In order to make the publishing process easier for me, and for you, I want the translation to come from the Official Silver to Eagle Copy (which I will explain how to obtain down below) and would prefer the translated copy to be a Microsoft Office Word File (.doc) file (or OpenOffice Word File/LibreOffice Word File is fine as well) so that I can easily publish the guide into Steam and also its PDF counterpart for the website. You don’t have to worry too much about this last process, I will be the one to worry about the hassle of publishing and making the PDFs, and such, with the same font, size, and format as the original. You just supply the translation and I will do the rest. 🙂 Before I finish uploading anything, you will get a chance to check for last minute mistakes and such. Also, some readers might find mistakes which is fine and I will discuss if the problem is there so that we can fix it on the various platforms. 🙂
That’s it!
Hopefully this doesn’t seem too much. The whole process is easy. You translate, and I will do the publishing/answering/etc. All on your own time. No pressure or deadlines.
Like I said before, I will give you full credit and your name will appear as a CONTRIBUTOR on the translated guide. I wish I could pay all the translators, but all of my work is non-profit and I cannot afford to properly pay you for your help. I can only offer my thanks and the thanks from all the community members that benefit from the ability to read the guide in their own native language. 🙂
So, are you still up for the task? Then let’s get started! You can start by messaging me on my Facebook (you can also use Twitter, but I prefer Facebook). Tell me that you are interested in volunteering and in what language you are wanting to translate and I will provide you with the Official Copy of the Silver to Eagle guide that you can use to translate. We can then use that message system to communicate. You can also message me with any questions that you have about the whole process and I will also help you with that. When I publish the guide on Steam, I will have to add you to make you a CONTRIBUTOR, so I will ask for a friend request (since I cannot send any due to the huge amounts of pending requests) and I will accept. 🙂
I believe that languages are bridges, not obstacles, for spreading information. Even if the language’s community is small, it’s still part of this overall community and I am sure they would appreciate the help just as much as any other player. The guide has helped thousands of people and I only wish to help even more. I don’t care about popularity, or money, or anything else and I never will. I just want to help people enjoy the game at a higher level and help them have fun. With your help, we can help even more people. I thank you in advance for volunteering, and if you are not and are just reading this, then I appreciate your ongoing support of the guide, my other works, and I.
Thank you for being awesome and I hoped this article helped you. -AddictedPro
