Khan Academy – Created in 2006. Goal is to provide free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere.
OpenStaxCollege – An OpenStax CNX initiative at Rice University. Providing peer-reviewed open textbooks since 2012.
PBS/KERA – Public Broadcasting Service Television Programming.
Duolingo – Launched in 2011. A free language-learning platform that includes a language-learning website and application.
Memrise – Online learning tool with community-created courses. Founded in 2010.
Scientific Research:
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – Working on understanding, treating, and defeating childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases since early 2011.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research – Research for the treatment and prevention of Parkinson’s Disease.
Prevent Cancer Foundation – United States-based charity, and one of the leading US health organizations devoted to the early detection and prevention of cancer.
Children:
Wigs For Kids – Non-profit organization to provide wigs for children who have lost their hair, permanently or temporarily, due to a medical condition.
Child’s Play Charity – Worldwide, charitable organization that donates toys and games to children’s hospitals worldwide.
Extra Life – Fund-raising event for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
Humanitarian Causes:
Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders) – International humanitarian-aid non-governmental organization and Nobel Peace Prize laureate. Founded in 1971.
Oxfam International – International confederacy against worldwide poverty. Founded in 1942.
Habitat For Humanity International – A non-profit housing organization. Building simple, affordable homes for people in need since 1976.
Other:
National Trust for Historic Preservation – Non-profit organization working to save American historical locations.
Operation Supply Drop – Helping veterans serving US, NATO, and ANZAC via various military programs. Founded in 2010 and helping deal with depression, and civilian reinstatement.
Games Done Quick (GDQ) Bi-Annual Charity Event – Video game speed-running, bi-annual, charity fun-raising event.
